Hue to Hoi An

HUE TO HOI AN IN A DAY (OR HOI AN TO HUE)
If you only have a day, the best way to get to Hoi An from Hue is NOT on a crowded bus, but on the back of a motorcycle with Mr. Quynh and his team of professional guides. The scenery along the coastal road of highway 1 is truly spectacular and you will have the chance to stop at sights you would never see from the bus. On our way we pass villages and rice paddies and stop for a swim at Elephant Falls. Continuing south the road will take you over the famous Hai Van Pass, or the “Sea of Clouds” where at the top you’ll have a panoramic view of the bowl-shaped bay of Da Nang. We then travel through the city of Da Nang to the white sands of China Beach, where on March 8, 1965 3500 Marines landed to defend the American airbase in Da Nang. From China Beach we make a final stop at Marble Mountain, five marble outcrops with a system of caves and Buddhist pagodas. Then on to Hoi An!

HUE TO HOI AN FOR 2 DAYS AND 1 NIGHT VIA THE HO CHI MINH TRAIL (OR HOI AN TO HUE)
The best way to get to or from Hue to Hoi An is on the back of a motorcycle with a safe, experienced, English speaking guide. Enjoy the stunning scenery, learn about the culture of the many ethnic hill tribes that live in the area, swim in a waterfall and enjoy the views from the tops of the mountain passes.

Day 1: From Hue to Aluoi to Prao on Ho chi Minh trail
Leaving Hue we take highway 49 to the small town of Aluoi and then over the beautiful Ma Oi pass, where we stop for swim at the Mau waterfall and see the handicraft needlework of the Van Kieu ethnic minority.

After lunch in Aluoi we spend the whole afternoon on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail to the mountain town of Prao where we stop for dinner and the night.

Day 2: From Prao to Hoi An
On the second day you have two options for getting to Hoi An.

Option 1: After breakfast in Prao we continue 52 km along the Ho Chi Minh Trail to the village of Thanh My where we will cross the river on a small local boat and drive along a country road to My Son, the ancient Champa Kingdom of the Cham people and a UNESCO World Heritage site. We stop at My Son where you are free to explore the ruins at your own pace. Then we continue on to Hoi An where we finish the tour.

Option 2: After breakfast in Prao we drive down the *** mountain pass to the city of Da Nang. On the way we visit the many Ethnic minority villages and tea fields dotted along the road. We continue down the pass to historic China Beach, the perfect place for a swim with its pristine water and unspoiled white sand beach and then on to the Marble Mountains where you can climb to the summit for stunning views. Several Buddhist sanctuaries can also be found within the mountains, making this a famous tourist destination. From Marble Mountain we continue to Hoi An where we finish the tour.

HUE TO HOI AN FOR 3 DAYS AND 2 NIGHTS (OR HOI AN TO HUE)
Day 1: Hue to the DMZ to Khe Sanh
This trip takes you from Hue along highway 1 to the town of Quang Tri where we visit the historic Long Hung Church. Now just a pockmarked shell the church has been preserved as a memorial to the countless victims of the fierce battles fought in the area in 1972. Leaving the church, our next stop is the Quang Tri Citadel, a military bastion and an administrative head office of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1809 to 1945. The 81 days and nights of battle between American forces and the South Vietnamese army in 1972 during the American War has made this citadel well-known all over the world.

Next we visit the Vinh Moc tunnels, a tunnel complex which was built to shelter people from the intense war time bombing. We continue to explore the Demilitarised Zone stopping for lunch at the Doc Mieu Firebase, where you will see the remains of an American tank.

After lunch we stop at the Truong Son cemetery, Vietnam’s largest military cemetery for soldiers who fought and died on the trail during the American War.
The rest of the trip to Khe Sanh will take you through stunning mountain scenery and hill tribe minority villages.

Around 5pm we arrive in Khe Sanh, a former combat base for American troops. After checking into your hotel you will be free to explore the area.

Day 2: Khe Sanh to Aluoi to Prao
After breakfast at a local restaurant we visit the Khe Sanh combat base and the Ta Con Airbase. Then we head out across the famous Dakrong Bridge, which is considered the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh Trail network, and during the years of conflict with the United States, this access point was hotly contested and the Bridge fell many times. In its new carnation it\'s now a lovely suspension bridge. Continuing along the Ho Chi Minh Trail we will stop to visit a village of the Pa Co minority.

Then we ride about 110 km to the town of Aluoi, on the way we cross one of the longest and most stunning mountain passes in Vietnam and then continue along the Truong Son mountain range. We stop for lunch in Aluoi before continuing on to Prao through jungles with cascading waterfalls and towering mountains. We stop for the night in Prao.

Day 3: Prao to Hoi An
There are 2 options from Prao to Hoi An:
